Open-source licences

ChessBinder uses open-source chess engines built by other teams. This page names each engine, the licence it is used under, and where to get its source code.

Last updated: 20 September 2026

Each engine on this page runs unmodified, on your own device, inside your browser. ChessBinder does not send your position to a server to be analysed. The calculation happens on your phone or computer.

Stockfish 19

The strongest free engine. Gives you the best move and how far ahead each side is.

  • Licence: GNU General Public License v3

Stockfish 11 Classical

Judges a position with hand-written chess knowledge, not a neural network, the way engines did before 2020. Its scores match textbook ideas.
